Requirement 1 discussion guide
Use these notes to discuss how to protect your digital footprint and stay physically safe while using connected devices.
Digital footprint basics
Your digital footprint includes information you intentionally share and information collected about you while using websites, apps, games, and devices.
Photos, usernames, comments, location tags, account details, and app permissions can all reveal more than you expect.
Use privacy settings to control who can see your profile, posts, photos, friends list, and location.
Avoid sharing full birth dates, home addresses, school schedules, travel plans, or exact live locations publicly.
Review app permissions and turn off access that is not needed, especially camera, microphone, contacts, and location.
Think before posting because deleted content may still be copied, shared, or archived by others.
Physical safety
Prevent injuries
Take regular breaks, blink often, and follow screen-distance and posture best practices to reduce eye strain.
Keep wrists, neck, shoulders, and back in comfortable positions to reduce repetitive stress injuries.
Handle chargers, batteries, and damaged electronics carefully and ask an adult for help if a device seems unsafe.
Do not stare at a phone while walking or biking. Stay aware of traffic, obstacles, and other people around you.
